Cups asked Mama for a flower for her kitchen the night before. Mama did not pay much attention. Before we left for school in the morning, Cups reminded Mama to get her a flower. Mama picked up a baby Poinsettia for her. She was very excited and wanted to put her new Hello Kitty handkerchief close to it. She knew exactly where she wanted her flower, too. She even asked whether the plant needed water right away.
The next morning she exclaimed, "I wanted a flower! I didn't want leaves!!" Mama cracked up. It was true that Poinsettias are made of leaves, but Mama for some reason had always thought of them as flowers. Cups wanted a flower that smelled good.
Later she shared with Mama that Charlie and Lola had an episode about "seed, plant and flower." This is our Christmas story.
